Spend your summer holidays in Switzerland: Discover the very best of Switzerland on this 8-day tour through some spectacular mountains and past sparkling blue lakes. You will also get the chance to sample two of our most famous exports: chocolate and cheese!

Starting in Lucerne you journey to the famous mountains of the Bernese Oberland. From there the Golden Pass train takes you through some breathtaking countryside to Montreux on the ‘Swiss Riviera’. From here you take the ‘Chocolate Train’ to visit both a cheese and chocolate factory in the local area. One of the best ways to spend a summer holiday in Switzerland.

Programme

Day 1: Arrival
Flight from the UK to Zürich and 2nd class rail transfer to Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne.
Day 2: Mountain Excursion Stanserhorn
A spectacular excursion to the Stanserhorn awaits! Experience the world's only open top cable car.
Day 3: Golden Pass to Interlaken
Depart from historic Lucerne and enjoy the first part of the Golden Pass route over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken, passing blue lakes, green meadows and age-old chalets along the way. 3 nights in Interlaken.
Day 4: Snow & Ice on the Jungfraujoch
Take the train from Interlaken Ost via Lauterbrunnen and Wengen to the Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the famous Eiger. You then take the Jungfrau railway via “Eiger Gletscher” to the Jungfraujoch - the highest railway station in Europe at 3,454m (11,300ft) with some breathtaking views of the Aletsch glacier, the longest in the Alps at 22km (13.6 miles).Once on top you can visit the Ice Palace, enjoy some sledging or simply admire the spectacular view from the Sphinx observation terrace.
Day 5: Explore the Jungfrau Region
The included Half Fare Card will give you half price on most mountain railways in the area and there are many to choose from. Overnight in Interlaken.
Day 6: Golden Pass to Montreux
All aboard the Golden Pass train for the journey from Interlaken through the rural Simmental region to Zweisimmen and on to Montreux. Do not miss the great views of Lake Geneva and its terraced vineyards. Overnight in Montreux.
Day 7: Chocolate Train
Chocolate and cheese is the theme of the day. In the morning board the ‘Chocolate Train’ and enjoy a coffee and croissant en route to Gruyères. Once there you will visit one of the famous cheese factories in the area. Afterwards, take the train to Broc and visit the Nestlé/Cailler chocolate factory, and a chocolate tasting session.
Day 8: Departure
Rail transfer to Zürich or Geneva. Return flight to the UK.
