Location: Zermatt, Valais
With the impressive Matterhorn towering in the background, Zermatt is one of the best-known resorts in Switzerland. The town centre is traffic-free (only electric cars and horse-drawn carriages are allowed) and maintained in a traditional style. Zermatt offers a perfect backdrop to a holiday in the mountains and has a lively, sparkling atmosphere quite different to other mountain resorts. Gondolas, cable cars and cog trains offer the visitor a huge choice of walks and hikes in the surrounding mountains.

3* Hotel Excelsior This cosy, family-fun hotel is situated right in the centre of Zermatt with views of the Matterhorn and the older part of the resort. The hotel has a popular bar, comfortable lounge, lively cocktail bar, an a la carte restauraunt and a lift. The rooms have a shower or bath, WC, cable/ satellite TV, radio, telephone and a safe. Superior rooms come with a view of the Matterhorn.
3* Hotel Welschen This charming 3-star Garni hotel enjoys a peaceful location just next to the Sunnegga Express with fantastic views of the Matterhorn. There are 16 rooms in this family run, chalet style hotel, which has a quiet and romantic atmosphere. There is a lounge with an open fire place and a rustic breakfast room where you get a buffet breakfast. 4* Mirabeau Alpine Residence Wellness Spa This supreior 4-star hotel is made up of two buildings - 'the Mirabeau' and the annex 'Alpine Residence' both enjoy a splendid view of the Matterhorn. Facilities include lounge with fireplace, piano bar, wine lounge, gourmet restauraunt, garden and sun terrace. Large Spa area in the annex building with swimming pool, various saunas and steam baths, relaxation room, massage and beauty treatments (supplement) All rooms have recenly been renovated in modern alpine style and offer bath, shower, WC, hairdryer, cable TV, radio, telephone, safe, minibar and balcony. Standard rooms are north/ east facing while Superior rooms are south facing with a view of the Matterhorn.
5* Mont Cervin Palace Situated in the heart of Zermatt the superior Mont Cervin Palace offers a very high standard of service, facilities and accommodation. Facilities include comfortable lounges, piano bar, Le Cervin Grill, Le Restauraunt, Spa with heated in and outdoor pool, children's paddling pool, whirlpools, saunas, steam baths and solariums, 'Daniels Steiner Beauty Spa'. The rooms and suites vary in size, location and amenities. They are all tastefully appointed and quietly inviting. Many but not all have a balcony and superb views of the Matterhorn. Superior rooms are slightly larger and can take extra-beds for children.
