Enjoy a summer holiday in Switzerland. Lausanne is a pretty historic town built on three hills, surrounded by vineyards and with the shores of Lake Geneva at its feet. Great charm and the beautiful Alpine scenery make it a fantastic base to explore the region. The mediaeval town centre is full of small alleys lined with boutiques, cafes and restaurants. At its centre sits the impressive Cathedral overlooking the town and Lake Geneva from its vantage point on top of a hill. Down at the bottom is the town’s port ‘Ouchy’ – a popular area with cafes and restaurants overlooking the quays. Excursions to nearby Geneva or Montreux can easily be done by boat or train.
