City break to Geneva
Location: Geneva
Geneva is Switzerland’s second largest city and is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva in the French-speaking part of the country. It is perhaps better known for its long tradition of welcoming world leaders to the international summits held here every year. Over 200 national orginsations are based in Geneva, among them the United Nations, the International Red Cross and the World Health Organisation. Geneva offers a wealth of tourist attractions, museums and exhibitions including its famous landmark, the Jet d’Eau, which shoots water 140m (460ft) into the air from a pier on the southern shore. The city boasts a host of attractions and is often referred to as ‘The World’s smallest Metropolis’. Stroll by the lake on a sunny day, book a boat excursion, visit one of the many exhibitions and museums, shop in elegant boutiques or soak up the gay atmosphere in the old town centre with its cobbled streets and small individual shops and restaurants.
